AmImA Cart Drawer
FAQs

Questions, answered honestly

Including the parts most apps leave out. If yours is not here, email info@amima.me — we usually reply within 4 to 8 hours.

General

Installing AmImA and living with it on your theme.

The drawer is deliberately not built while your page is loading — it is rendered after the page has finished, during browser idle time. A separate script under 1 KB loads first so your cart button responds immediately, even before the main bundle arrives. Performance on low-end mobile is the thing we optimise hardest for.

No. The app installs as a theme app extension and is switched on from your theme editor's App embeds panel. Nothing is written into your theme files.

The drawer renders inside a Shadow DOM, so your theme's CSS cannot interfere with it and it cannot interfere with your theme. It recognises the standard cart triggers used by Dawn and most Online Store 2.0 themes, and you can add your own selectors for anything unusual.

Yes. The app hides your theme's native cart and takes over. Turn the app off and your theme's cart comes straight back.

Nothing is left behind. Theme app extensions are removed cleanly by Shopify, your theme returns to its own cart, and the discounts this app created are disabled automatically.

Yes. Every string in the drawer is editable, with per-language overrides for each language published on your store, plus CSV import and export for bulk translation. Right-to-left languages are supported.

Rewards & discounts

How the progress bar and its discounts behave.

No. When you add a reward tier, the app creates and maintains the matching Shopify automatic discount. If you would rather run your own, you can turn that off per tier and the progress bar will still display.

Yes, provided they are different discount classes — for example free shipping plus a percentage off plus a free gift. Shopify only ever applies one automatic order discount at a time, so two order-level tiers (say a fixed amount off and a percent off the whole order) cannot stack with each other.

Yes, there is a discount code field in the drawer. Shopify's cart cannot support every discount type outside checkout though — see the limitations section below.

They can. It stays removed for that session, and is offered again if they drop below the threshold and earn it back.

Up to four, each triggered by cart subtotal or item count, with up to three gift products per tier and your own message before and after it unlocks.

Plans & billing

Yes. Every plan includes every feature. Plans differ only by order volume, plus priority support on Scale and assisted onboarding on Enterprise.

14 days on Starter and Growth. Shopify grants one trial per store per app, so a store that subscribes, cancels and returns is billed from day one. Development stores are free.

The per-order rate applies to every order in that billing period, not only the ones past the allowance. On Starter, order number 501 means the period is billed as 501 × $0.0175. Usage charges are capped at $150/month on Starter and Growth and $100/month on Scale — Shopify stops accepting usage charges once the cap is reached. Enterprise has no usage fees.

Yes, at any time from the Plans page in the app.

Your cart keeps running for a short grace period while you sort it out. After that the drawer stops showing on your storefront — but your settings and designs stay exactly as they are, and it goes live again the moment payment clears.

Limitations

Real constraints of running a cart outside Shopify's checkout. Better to know now than after launch.

One manual discount code at a time. Several automatic store discounts can apply at once, but customers must go to checkout to apply more than one code. Free shipping discount codes are not supported in the cart and must be applied at checkout. Shopify Plus stores still using checkout.liquid are not supported.

Two order-level discounts cannot combine — that is a Shopify platform rule for automatic discounts, not an app limitation. Buy X Get Y discounts stack only on the customer-gets products.

Shop Pay, PayPal and Google Pay buttons are Shopify's own and cannot be recreated by an app, so the drawer borrows the real ones from your page. Shopify does not render live payment buttons inside the theme editor, so you see a labelled placeholder there and the real buttons on your live store. If your theme only renders them on the cart page, a small hidden block lets the drawer borrow them — the setup guide in the app covers it.

Shopify fixes a subscription's price when it is created, so a discount granted to your app subscription applies from your next plan change.

They fall back to your theme's own cart and can still check out normally.

Data & privacy

No — none of it. We do not use customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, payment details, IP addresses, geolocation, browser or operating system. Shopify's app listing shows device and activity data among the data this kind of app can access; AmImA does not read, record or store any of it.

Your store configuration, and anonymous cart activity: that a cart was viewed, that checkout was clicked, that an upsell was added, plus Shopify's cart token. When a cart converts we read the order amount, so your usage charges are billed accurately and the order can be attributed back to the cart. None of it is linked to a person, and anonymous cart events are deleted after 90 days.

Your session is deleted immediately. All remaining store data is permanently deleted when Shopify sends its shop redaction request, 48 hours after uninstall. Reinstalling within that window restores your settings.

We implement Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks. Because the app holds no customer personal data, customer data requests and customer redaction have nothing to report or delete; shop redaction permanently deletes all data for your store. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Yes. Assisted setup and onboarding is included on Enterprise, and we will happily point anyone on any plan in the right direction — the app also ships with a step-by-step setup guide.

Yes. Tell us what you are trying to sell and how the cart is getting in the way, and we will tell you honestly whether and when it fits.
